Mobile Museum A Hit Across Generations
November 10, 2014
It was a big weekend for the Hess Toy Truck Mobile Museum as it continued its tour throughout the east coast. The most recent stop in Manorville, NY was a hit for fans spanning generations. Fans and collectors young and old were able to connect through their appreciation of the iconic toy and the stories they were able to share with each other.
Tour managers Mark and Jamie spoke with a brother and sister who stopped by the museum. They spoke about their grandfather and how he would have loved the Mobile Museum if he were still around. “We were waiting to purchase our Collector’s Edition Toy Truck until we came here, hoping he’d be able to look down and see the museum through our eyes”.
A long-time fan brought his 1964 toy truck to show the crowd. He explained that he was missing a few to complete his collection but the 1964 truck had survived all these years and still lights up.. This was the first time he was able to see all the trucks together and spoke about how special the museum was to all the collectors out there.
Younger fans were just as excited to take a tour through 50 years of Hess Toy Trucks. An 8-year -old boy brought his 2008 toy truck, the first one he was given by his father. His mother told tour managers that every year he knows when and where he can get his new truck. He was the one who told them about the Mobile Museum stop in their hometown.
A father and son stopped by and were exchanging stories with other collectors explaining how years ago his father started a collection for his son and now his son has started a collection for his new nephew.
